To date, 36 pleasure piers have been lost from around the UK coastline and these are listed here alphabetically.
The dates that appear below each heading are, generally, the opening and destruction/demolition dates for the main pier structure. In many cases (for example Withernsea), land-based entrance buildings still exist, many years after the loss of the pier.
The pier at Douglas, which was dismantled and re-erected at Rhos-on-Sea, is regarded as one pier.
Ventnor Royal Victoria pier was rebuilt several times. However, in easch case the original sub-structure was used and it is, therefore, considered a single pier.
