There were plans announced that New Brighton pier in Wallasey is to be rebuilt but as a local resident I have not heard anything since. Does anyone else have any new on this? Thanks

Love your site, I am currently embarking on a tour of all UK piers over the next 2 years. Not sure why? Completed so far: Penarth-Clevedon - Weston Grand (Before the Fire) - Bangor - Bognor of an the other one at Weston. Bognor the last visit was disappointing, the boarding did not feel safe to walk on, and why o why do food retailers near piers jack their prices up. We should be attracting people to our Piers. Fish and chips a few streets back in Bognor was about 1.10 cheaper. Historic info from your site is very interesting. Maybe worth starting a guests photo Gallery. Piers in all season sort of thing.

Nice to see that people are so interested in the fate of piers and do get emotional when piers suffer setbacks. It makes my job of managing a pier worthwhile when I know that people appreciate its very existence! For the record, we're proud of our pier and have thriving all year round trade now (couldn't get a cup of tea here in the winter until 3 years ago). Almost 90,000 people per annum attend shows at our end of pier theatre the Pavilion Theatre and the queue for hot chocolate on a cold but sunny February day has got to be seen to be believed! Long live the British Pier!
